Acting for Animation:Objective, Action + Obstacle: Going up the Stairs

This task was pretty good and different. The concept for my upstairs climbing animation was based on a cleaner. First shot starts with the character mopping the floor near to a stairs. A fire extinguisher is kept near to him attached to the wall.  He will smell something and will think for a while and leave it. Suddenly fire alarm goes on. Character will get tensed and looks all around, down and up of stairs. By taking the fire extinguisher he will run through the stairs.ence
However, Their was a shooting session for us to help in animation to get reference. We had done it in groups by helping each other by hearing their ideas and shooted from different camera angles.Video references have helped very much in my animation.

As planned in the upstairs climbing animation concept i created a storyboard, which had contained more detailed idea for the same animation by adding extra parts. A good storyboard has a great role in making a good animation , so i tried to make a fine storyboard. As far as i feel, i have achieved in doing it.

I had divide by shots into five to make it more easier to animate. And i did my blocking stage for the animation as first step.
In first shot character is mopping near to a stairs, a pleasant expression in his face. He is using a mop stick as props.

In the next shot he smells something and will think for a moment. Then starts working again, he is least bothered about it, again concentrating on his work.

Third shot is an important one.As fire alarm, objective, goes ringing  character gets confused. This shot contains actions for this task, he will run towards the stairs will look down once then  up with it he will drop the mop stick.

Forth shot is picking of fire extinguisher, his motivation is to rescue. And final in fifth shot he is running through the stairs with fire extinguisher in his hand.   Though i completed my animation for upstairs climbing, their where many changes that has to be done as instructed  by tutor. I modified mainly the run and obstacles.   This is my final output for the first task.Feedback from Siobhan Fenton and Penny Holton had really helped in the development of this task
